Do I need to remove the carburetor each time I change a restrictor plate?
No. With the EZ-Plate Systems sliding restrictor plate design, the carburetor, air filter, linkage, and fuel lines can all remain in place on the engine while changing a restrictor plate. Simply remove the nut and retaining cover, slide the restrictor plate out, insert the new plate, and place the cover and nut back on the spacer. It’s quick and easy and takes less than 30 seconds. Removal of the carb is only necessary when first installing the EZ-Plate system. |
Do I have to remove the EZ-Plate System in order to run all out with no restriction?
No. Simply remove the nut and retaining cover, slide the restrictor plate out of the spacer, then place the cover and nut back on and you’re ready to run all out, with no restriction. |
Where do the plates slide in and out with respect to the car/engine?
For a typical installation, we recommend that the EZ-Plate system is mounted so that the restrictor plates will slide in and out of the spacer from the passenger side of the engine. |
What is the height/thickness of the EZ-Plate System?
The 4150 system is a total of 1-inch thick, while the 4500 system is 3/4-inch thick. |
Do I have to change my jetting when I use the EZ-Plate System?
No. The EZ-Plate System does not affect the air-fuel ratio. |
Do I have to change my ignition timing when I use the EZ-Plate System?
No. The EZ-Plate System does not affect the ignition or require changes to the ignition timing of the engine. |
Will running a restrictor plate affect the air/fuel ratio?
No. Running a restrictor plate will not change the air/fuel ratio. All a restrictor plate does is reduce the volume of the air/fuel mixture being fed into the engine, which reduces the horsepower. The developers of the EZ-Plate System have thoroughly tested the use of restrictor plates on their drag cars for years, and run them with no adverse effects. |
How many restrictor plates come with a complete EZ-Plate System?
Each EZ-Plate System includes the carburetor spacer, retaining cover, nut, and 20 different sized restrictor plates. |
Why does the EZ-Plate System include twenty plates?
Every EZ-Plate system is custom tailored to your specific vehicle, and includes 20 different sized restrictor plates for maximum adjustability. Depending on your race car’s specifications (i.e. engine size, gear ratio, tire size, weight, etc.) and the E.T. you’d like to run, the plate in the middle of this range will be the ideal plate to run your desired slower E.T. The full range of 20 plates allows you to still run the desired E.T. even in varying track and weather conditions. |
What if you don’t have a plate set for my target E.T. range?
To date, EZ-Plate Systems has never failed to have the correct plate range for a customer. Whether you want to slow down a few tenths, or a few seconds, we've got what you need! |
What happens if I try out the middle restrictor plate, and it’s not my desired E.T.?
Based on your supplied vehicle specifications, we try our very best to give you the correct range of 20 restrictor plates the first time. However, every car and engine is different. Similar to how a torque converter may need a little adjustment, sometimes we may need to revise the range of restrictor plates slightly in order to achieve the target E.T. using the middle plate. If running your car with the middle plate does not achieve the desired E.T., simply give us a call to let us know how far off it was. We will work with you to determine if you need an entire new range of 20 restrictor plates, or if you just need a few of the plates replaced. You then ship us the plates back, and we ship you the new plates. It’s that EZ! |
Will installing the EZ-Plate System make my car run more consistently?
The restrictor plates of the EZ-Plate System are designed to repeat every pass. However, if your car is not currently consistent, our system won’t magically make your car start running consistently. The plates will repeat every pass, to the extent allowable given your car’s ability to repeat. Other factors, such as staging, track and weather conditions, etc, may affect the repeatability of your car as well. |
Can I run nitrous with the EZ-Plate System?
Yes. You can run nitrous plates, additional spacers, etc. with the EZ-Plate System. |
Can I use the EZ-Plate System if I have dual carburetors?
|
Can I use the EZ-Plate System if I have a blower or turbo?
Yes. You can use the EZ-Plate System if you have a blower or turbocharger, as long as you have a carbureted engine. |
Can I use the EZ-Plate System if I have a port fuel-injected engine?
No. Due to the square-flange design of the EZ-Plate System, it is only suitable for carbureted engines. |
